Installation
With the buttons above: Install, then Add game files... and pick your copy of Quake II: the disc in the drive, an ISO, BIN/CUE or MDF image, an installer or a folder. The game data is not part of the package, and Walnut does not offer it.
What works: Quake II's baseq2/pak0.pak and baseq2/video: its CD or a BIN/CUE image of it (with the CD music), an installed copy (Steam, GOG) or GOG's installer.
No copy? Download the free demo in the same chooser (it needs the network).
Optional, from a copy that has them: the CD's music: Also add in the app.
More ways (a terminal, game-data-packager on any Debian system, copying the files by hand): Guides.
Known issues
- Particles (blood, sparks, bullet trails) draw as big discs of one size at every distance (squares before Mesa 0050): fixed in the next Mesa and RSX driver builds.
- Movement is bound to E/S/D/F out of the box, not W/A/S/D (Yamagi's defaults): rebind it in Options, Customize controls. Fixed for new players in our next yquake2 (W/A/S/D and the pad's buttons by default), which awaits a check on the PS3.
- The menu and HUD text is small at 1080p.
