Installation

In Walnut Games, the desktop app: Install, then Add game files... and pick your copy of Final Doom: the disc in the drive, an ISO, BIN/CUE or MDF image, an installer or a folder. The game data is not part of the package, and Walnut does not offer it.

What works: TNT.WAD and PLUTONIA.WAD from Final Doom: a CD, an installed copy, Steam's common/Final Doom folder or the GOG installer. TNT also needs tnt31fix.zip, which is downloaded.

More ways (a terminal, game-data-packager on any Debian system, copying the files by hand): Guides.

Or from a terminal, from Walnut's apt repository:

sudo apt install dsda-doom

Known issues

  • Nobody has played it through a session on Walnut yet, and it has not been tried with the TNT or Plutonia WADs.
  • DSDA-Doom's MIDI music chops on the PS3: about 465 sound underruns a minute with the synthesizer on the SPEs (measured with Freedoom, not with these WADs).
