Installation

In Walnut Games, the desktop app: Install. It plays with free data; if you own Transport Tycoon Deluxe, Add game files... adds the original's files from your copy: the disc in the drive, an ISO, an installer or a folder.

What works: Transport Tycoon Deluxe for Windows: its CD or an installed copy (the trg*.grf files, sample.cat and the music, gm_tt*.gm or fm/9_tt*.fm).

More ways (a terminal, game-data-packager on any Debian system, copying the files by hand): Guides.

Or from a terminal, from Walnut's apt repository:

sudo apt install openttd openttd-opengfx openttd-opensfx openttd-openmsx

Known issues

  • With the OpenGL driver, water pulses to white or very bright (its palette animation); the software driver doesn't.
  • With the 32bpp-anim blitter the same game runs at 11 frames a second; NewGRFs that ask for 32bpp bring it back.
