Installation

In Walnut Games, the desktop app: Install, then Add game files... and pick your copy of The Secret of Monkey Island: the disc in the drive, an ISO, BIN/CUE or MDF image, an installer or a folder. The game data is not part of the package, and Walnut does not offer it.

What works: The DOS release: the CD (MONKEY.000 and MONKEY.001; English, German, French or Italian) or the VGA floppies (000.LFL, 901-904.LFL and the DISK*.LEC files; English, German or Spanish), copied to a folder. The Special Edition (Steam, GOG) is not supported.

More ways (a terminal, game-data-packager on any Debian system, copying the files by hand): Guides.

Or from a terminal, from Walnut's apt repository:

sudo apt install scummvm

Known issues

  • The Special Edition sold on Steam and GOG is not supported, only the DOS release (CD or VGA floppies).
  • Nobody has played a session of it on Walnut yet, only smoke-tested. The Spanish VGA floppy release reached Guybrush on the dock.
